St. Elizabeth Regional Health and the Kathryn Weil Center for Education are proud to offer “The Gift of Motherhood: eLearning Childbirth Education Program.” Now, through the Kathryn Weil Center for Education, parents have the option of participating in a regular classroom setting or using this new online version.
Online learning addresses the growing needs of a new generation of parents. Especially designed for those mothers on bed rest, it is also an alternative for parents who have concerns about distance, time or as a refresher course for second-time parents who are not able to attend the sessions at the center because of difficulty scheduling child care.
The interactive tutorial provides medically accurate information and instruction on labor patterns, pain medication, Cesarean birth and relaxation skills. Hospital routines and newborn screenings as well as postpartum issues, such as breastfeeding, newborn care and depression, are also addressed. The interactive, Web-based program contains animated illustrations, videos, voice-overs and games which can be accessed through a PC or Mac. Broadband access is recommended.
An access code provided at the time of registration allows expectant parents to view the program as many times as they wish during a 12-week period. Cost for the online course or the traditional childbirth education courses at the center is $55.
For more information or to register for any of the courses, please call the Kathryn Weil Center for Education at (765) 449-5133.
